Inside a yacht’s hidden ventilation system
Looks like a simple fan coil can hide a significant build-up of dust and mould.
In our latest video, we take you behind the scenes during AC cleaning aboard a 55m superyacht, showing what we found inside a crew cabin ventilation system and how we access the components that need attention.
WHAT WE FOUND
Once the fan coil was accessed, the build-up was clearly visible.
Dust and mould had accumulated across the coil and on the fan blades, in areas that are normally hidden away inside the system.
MORE THAN JUST THE VISIBLE COIL
The system runs through the back of the wardrobes to outlets above the cabin. Once the fan is removed, the flexible insulated ducting can also be inspected.
Flexible ducting can collect dust and mould over time. Depending on its condition, it can either be cleaned or replaced.
